When you’re headed out on an adventure, the last thing you want to worry about is whether your footwear is up to the task. No matter if you’re in the city or heading to the mountains to catch some late-season snow, you need a shoe that’s always ready — one that can tackle all types of terrain without sacrificing any style.
Thankfully, Vans has created the perfect silhouette to fulfill those needs: the MTE Crosspath and its higher-cut sibling, the MTE Crosspath Mid. Sitting at the intersection of style and functionality, the MTE Crosspath pulls visual cues from Vans storied skateboarding footwear. However, it balances its aesthetic with a technically advanced build designed to tackle uneven ground, inclement weather, and whatever else you can throw at it.
From collar to outsole, the MTE Crosspath is loaded with performance features. Uppers, made of 100% recycled PET and reinforced with abrasion paneling, use seamless RAPIDWELD™ construction treated with a non-PFC DWR water-repellent coating for a protective yet lightweight and breathable fit. Updated toe box shapes and contoured insoles supply all-day comfort. At the same time, a new outsole traction pattern allows for maximum surface area contact, which, in turn, supplies a sturdier grip than previous models. A shoe designed for going out in nature must also respect Mother Earth, so the MTE Crosspaths’ midsole is made with at least 50% biobased EVA foam partially derived from plants, and is USDA-Certified Biobased. Additionally, 31% of the rubber used to make the outsole is regeneratively grown natural rubber sourced from farms utilizing agricultural practices intended to promote biodiversity, enhance water cycles, improve soil health, and/or sequester carbon.
Accompanying the debut of the Vans MTE Crosspath and Vans MTE Crosspath Mid is the second chapter of the Crosspath story, with Vans Snowboarding team riders Benny Urban, Kevin Ignacia, Ryo Aizawa, Jake Kuyzk, Jill Perkins, and Ivika Jürgenson exploring St. John’s, Newfoundland and Innsbruck, Austria for a late-winter street spot session.
